Mailshots still preferred weapon for direct marketing

Direct MailIt’s no secret that direct marketing can drive millions of pounds in new business straight to your door. In fact, new research published by the Direct Marketing Association (DMA) shows that the UK’s direct marketing industry generates £205 billion in sales annually.

Despite the explosion of email marketing and social media, direct mail has grown 137% in the last ten years. Sophie Priest, Marketing Services Manager at Insight Data, explains why; “For many people, direct mail is still their preferred method of contact. It is personal and demands attention, yet is not intrusive.”

Major companies such as Sage Software and Dell Computers are still among the biggest users of business-to-business direct mail despite being technology-driven organisations, while companies such as the AA spend millions of pounds per year to drive new business, renewals and cross-sell opportunities using direct mail.
